The 5th year of the extreme race "Reconnaissance Patrol Competition" took place from August 26 to August 29, 2013.
Judging by the name, this could not have been organized by anyone other than the 102nd Reconnaissance Battalion, based in Prosteev, as the only reconnaissance battalion of the Czech army. The battalion's motto is "SPEM RETINE" in Latin, which translates as "KEEP HOPE ALIVE", which could undoubtedly have been the motto of the participants in the competition.
A total of 19 teams measured their skills and were able to complete the competition without disqualification and resignation, there were only 14 of them! It has long been the case in the history of competitions that, on average, only two thirds of the teams can complete the competition, despite the fact that only the best participate in them. Nevertheless, it was very painful for the non-eliminated teams to walk the last few hundred meters and run the finish line without any signs of maximum exhaustion and fatigue.
From beginning to end, all competitions were conceived as a combat deployment of a reconnaissance group with tasks performed at checkpoints. There were such disciplines as shooting ranges, overcoming the water surface by swimming with equipment, or arranging thickets in trees.
Exhibition of aviation equipment of Czechoslovak pilots
On July 27 and 28, the second of a series of exhibitions took place at the upcoming Czechoslovak Army Museum in Kolin Sendraice, in which the CSLA Military History Club presents its collections to the general public, which will become part of the museum's permanent exhibition.
This time, the exhibition was dedicated to the aviation technology of Czechoslovak pilots. Visitors could see uniforms, pilot uniforms, airtight clothing, air helmets and other exhibits.
The instrument panel and ejection seat from the cockpit of the MiG-15 probably received the most attention, and many visitors could not resist the temptation to experience the feelings of the pilots.
The space was also dedicated to the memory of the pilots of Chaslav Airport who gave their lives in the line of duty.
